Remember when I said that you are totally qualified, just like everyone else?
Last year, The Onion shared its own satirical viewpoint on this idea with the fake article, "Company Immediately Calls Job Applicant Upon Seeing 'B.A. in Communications' on Résumé."
Even if you've seen it before, it's worth a re-read. The Onion perfectly captures how ridiculous it is to think that a company will be blown away by a completely average application, to the point that it may be painfully familiar to read.
Remember: It's not enough to do what everyone else is doing and put in the minimum amount of work if you want to get hired. You have to take the time to think about what makes you stand out — and then polish your application materials and your interview skills to be able to communicate that to others.
